- 29/10/2008, P&O Orders IMO Tier II Common Rail Engine
- 29 October 2008. At a ceremony during the recent SMM marine trade show in Hamburg, Germany, MAN Diesel concluded a major order for the first IMO Tier II version of its new 48/60CR four stroke engine with common rail fuel injection - one of the new products exhibited on the company stand. In this way, the engine’s end user, Dover, UK based P&O Ferries is anticipating the 2011 implementation of the second stage of the IMO MARPOL 73/78 Annex VI emissions regulations.

- 'Green lubes' for environmentally friendly cp propellers: After comprehensive testing, MAN Diesel has given general approval for the use of Vickers Oils bio-oils with its CP propellers. Accordingly, Vickers biodegradable and non-toxic oils are now accepted by MAN Diesel for use within complete oil systems in the VB and VBS propeller range.

- At a ceremony in Bergen on 26 September last, Odfjell, the Norwegian shipping group, signed an agreement with MAN Diesel for the rebuilding of the main engine aboard the M/T ‘Bow Cecil’.
